Meet April Morrow

“My first dance steps go back as far as walking on my dad’s feet when he was dancing at the Elk’s club when I was a toddler. Soon I was dancing and competing on that very same floor.”

Hawaii Starball Competition

April’s ballroom dance training came from Rick Gossard, Northwest DanceSport in 2000. She is certified through the National Dance Council of America (NDCA) as a Pro/Am Teacher. A large part of her furthered education and experience comes from coaching from Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollmann in West Coast Swing and training in GSDTA and the Universal Unit System with Skippy Blair in 2008.

She is known for being highly skilled at breaking down patterns and concepts. April teaches fundamental dance techniques in a way that makes it easy to understand. She knows both the leads and the follows parts to all the dances and can teach and dance both parts. Being fully embodied in leading and following she is able to quickly spot partnership problem areas and suggest a change in technique, resulting in immediate improvement.

She specializes in diagnostic skills, fine detail, leading & following techniques, and is widely respected for her ability to teach solid social dance skills. April has a sense of duty to help her students become the best dancers they can. Teaching dance is April’s purpose and passion in life. She has an upbeat personality and her teaching style is cutting-edge and fun.

April creates a comfortable and fun environment to learn, while at the same time pushing her students to succeed. Her enthusiasm for dance and the joy she receives seeing her students learn continues to fuel her desire to share her knowledge. It is instinctive and natural for her and as you watch her teach you will see how much passion she possesses.

April loves teaching all styles and levels of dance, whether for beginners or advanced, private or group, competitive or social, but her most favorite thing to teach is first dances for wedding couples because she immensely enjoys choreographing to each new song couples bring her.

For years she competed, show cased, choreographed, and taught all over western Washington but after reopening her studio in April of 2025 her main focus is on weddings and private lessons due to raising her granddaughter and time constraints.

April’s dance tenure has included but is not limited to: Pacific Lutheran University. Pierce, Highline, and Green River Community Colleges. Washington Dance Club, Abbey Ballroom, Rocking Horse Dance Barn, Auburn Eagles, USA Dance, and Northwest Dance Sport. Olympia and Lacey Parks and Rec. She has owned and operated April Morrow Dance formerly known as Dance 2 Connect for over two decades.
